It’s a significant departure from the past three years, but the Michigan football team will be playing a postseason game nonetheless.
On Sunday, the Wolverines announced that they have accepted a bid to play in the ReliaQuest Bowl on December 31, 2024 in Tampa, Fla. Their opponent is not yet announced, though it is confirmed to be a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
This year will mark Michigan’s seventh appearance in the ReliaQuest Bowl, its first since 2018. The Wolverines currently hold a 3-3 record in the bowl game.
After three straight years in the four-team College Football Playoff, Michigan is missing the first-ever 12-team Playoff after a mediocre 7-5 season. The Wolverines ended on a significant high note, though, with their win over then-No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus. That victory bumped Michigan up in bowl game consideration, landing them in Tampa for a New Year’s Eve noon game.
More information, including on the Wolverines’ opponent, will be announced soon.
