Scenes from the stage: SiR

With a voice that embodies soul, sincerity and vulnerability, R&B singer-songwriter SiR brought fans into his world Friday night at The Fillmore. The Inglewood, California artist took to Detroit to share tracks from his album “HEAVY” along with staples from his catalog, as part of his Life Is Good Tour.

Zacari, singer and SiR’s labelmate, opened the show with a laid-back atmosphere on guitar. With more punch in the rest of his set, he brought the energy up for the next opener, SiR’s older brother Davion Farris. Farris commanded an enthusiastic response from the crowd with his deep vocals and strong presence.

After a brief technical delay, SiR bounded onto the stage in an all-white outfit, picking up the energy Farris left behind to launch into a dynamic, engaging set that spanned the years of his discography. While fans danced and couples swayed to upbeat hits like “Rapper Weed” and “YOU,” his more heartfelt tracks like “SIX WHOLE DAYS” garnered just as strong of a response.

The singer crooned about struggles in love, addiction and the growing pains that brought him to his current stage in life. While he took a moment to reflect on his journey and the album’s themes, he thanked God for his blessings, uniting the mass of people in the pit in a brief moment of spirituality.
