Hundreds of fans eagerly lined up outside the Royal Oak Music Theatre in the scorching heat to watch alternative folk artist Faye Webster perform Tuesday night.

Tuesday’s concert was the tenth stop of the United States and Canada tour, which began in June, following the release of her latest album Underdressed at the Symphony, and is set to end in October. Julie, the tour’s supporting act, caused an amplifier to catch fire when they opened with an explosive alt-rock performance.

The stage was adorned with washing machine light fixtures and clothing racks. A large T-shirt hung from the ceiling and functioned as a screen for projections during the concert. Throughout her performance, Webster basked in the deep blue light borrowed from the cover of her recent album.

Webster’s performance was relaxing and atmospheric, relying on captivating instrumental performances by herself and four band members. Throughout the concert, each member played a solo on their respective instruments, which included guitar, bass, percussion, keyboard, saxophone and violin. The audience cheered the soloists on as they swayed along to the slow, harmonious music.

Even from the balcony of the Royal Oak Music Theatre, fans craned their necks and sang, danced, cried and kissed as they listened to Webster’s melancholic tunes ring from the stage. Audience members sang along to fan favorites such as “Right Side of My Neck,” “Jonny: Suite” and “A Dream With a Baseball Player.”

During the concert, Webster’s performance became more upbeat and exciting, with songs like “Lego Ring” and “He Loves Me Yeah!” She also showcased her musical prowess, switching deftly between guitar and the keyboard. As Webster played the guitar, she backed into the darkness of the stage, seemingly entering an instrumental atmosphere before she returned to the microphone to lean back into the melodious lyrics.

She finished her performance with a humble exit, then returned with a two-song encore after raucous demands from the crowd. The concert concluded with “Kingston,” a fan favorite. Bubbles and chills soared over the crowd in an exciting and romantic finish. Audience members were moved by Webster’s vulnerable performance and cheered a tearful goodbye as she made her final exit from the stage.
